“Pada bulan Juli 2020 belum ada wisatawan mancanegara (wisman) yang berkunjung ke Sumatera
Selatan melalui pintu masuk Bandara Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang,”kata Kepala Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Sumsel, Endang Triwahyuninhsih.
Hal ini, menurut Endang, disebabkan selama bulan Juli 2020 tidak ada penerbangan langsung Internasional di Bandara Sultan Mahmud Badarudin (SMB) II karena pandemik Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Dilihat dari asal negara, lanjut dia, jumlah wisman terbanyak yang berkunjung ke Sumatera Selatan pada periode Januari – Juli 2020 melalui bandara Sultan Mahmud Badarudin II adalah warga negara Malaysia sebanyak 1.245 kunjungan (54,20 persen).
Lalu, sambung Endang, diikuti oleh Singapura sebanyak 376 kunjungan atau sebesar 16,37 persen dan warga negara Tiongkok sebanyak 87 kunjungan atau sebesar 3,79 persen.
Total jumlah wisman yang berkunjung ke Sumatera Selatan pada periode Januari – Juli 2020 sebanyak 2.297 kunjungan, atau turun 76,54 persen dibanding periode yang sama di tahun 2019 yang sebanyak 9.791 kunjungan. (Don)
