Petani di Kabupaten PALI sedang mengolah sawah
RIMAUNEWS, PALI – Tingginya modal pertanian padi akibat harga pupuk yang setiap tahun harganya meningkat juga terkadang pupuk langka di pasaran membuat sebagian petani berinisiatif pindah pola tanamnya, dari pola konvensional ke pola organik.
Seperti di lahan sawah Rejosari kecamatan Talang Ubi Utara kabupaten Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir (PALI) sebagian besar petani setempat mempersiapkan lahan juga pembuatan kompos sebagai media tanam padi pola organik.
Adapun pembuatan kompos organik ini, kata Een, salah satu petani setempat bahwa disamping alasan mengurangi pengeluaran pembelian pupuk kimia padi organik juga dapat meningkatkan harga penjualannya.
Sebab, lanjutnya, kami sadar bahwa selain harga pupuk kimia mahal juga berdampak pada lingkungan apabila digunakan dalam jangka panjang.
Selain itu, hasil produksi padi yang akan dihasilkan sebagai padi organik menghasilkan beras sehat. “Baru musim tanam kali ini kami mencoba menerapkan pola organik,”kata Een, Kamis (14/10/2021).
Kemudian, kata Een, lebih menyemangati petani setempat beralih ke sistem organik adanya pendampingan dari Pertamina Pendopo yang menugaskan ahli pertanian organik setiap proses pengolahan lahan sampai penanaman bahkan hingga panen.
“Kami diajak pelatihan langsung praktek. Sekitar ada 25 petani di Rejosari dan sekitarnya ikuti pelatihan dan mencoba penanaman pola organik. Saat ini kami masih persiapan lahan dan menunggu kompos masak,”ungkap dia.
Setelah itu, sambungnya, kami akan menyemai dan menanam dibawah panduan tenaga ahli organik yang disiapkan Pertamina Pendopo.
Sementara itu, Rahmat pendamping petani yang dikontrak Pertamina Pendopo menyebut bahwa untuk pembukaan lahan sawah pola organik luasnya sekitar 25 hektar.
“Ini akan menjadi contoh bagi petani yang ada di kabupaten PALI bahwa tanpa pupuk kimia produksi padi masih bisa maksimal dan tidak kalah dengan hasil penggunaan pupuk kimia atau pestisida kimia,”jelas dia.
Dari pengalamannya selama ini, menurut dia, dalam satu hektar bisa menghasilkan padi lebih kurang 6 ton dengan modal yang sangat minim. Padi yang dihasilkan nantinya oleh pemerintah pertamina akan diuji lab kandungan kimianya masih ada atau sudah hilang, lahan yang kami garap saat ini sebelumnya menggunakan pola konvensional.
“Beras organik juga dapat meningkatkan harga jual, dimana beras biasa hanya Rp 9.000-10.000/kg,tapi kalau beras organik saat ini mencapai Rp 17.000/kg,” ujarnya. (HM)
