Herman Deru – Kapolda Kompak Jalin Kerjasama Percepat Terwujudnya Sumsel Mandiri Pangan
RIMAUNEWS, BANYUASIN – Komitmen Provinsi Sumatera Selatan (Sumsel) dalam menjaga ketahanan pangan terus dibuktikan. Upaya tersebut mendapat dukungan dari berbagai pihak, seperti pada Rabu (16/3). Gubernur Sumsel H Herman Deru memulai launching penanaman jagung dalam rangka program ketahanan pangan nasional melalui penanaman jagung di lahan Sekolah Polisi Negara (SPN) Betung Kabupaten Banyuasin.
“Langkah ini merupakan semangat Sumsel untuk menjadi epicentrum jagung. Hal ini juga wujud Sumsel dalam menjaga ketahanan pangan nasional,” kata Herman Deru mengawali sambutannya.
Dia mengungkapkan, upaya itu juga merupakan bukti kolaborasi semua pihak yang ada di Sumsel, termasuk aparat penegak hukum seperti POLRI dan TNI.
“Ini selaras dengan arahan pak Presiden Joko Widodo. Pak presiden menginginkan agar ketahanan pangan melalui komoditas jagung segera dilakukan. Upaya ini tentu kita apresiasi karena dilakukan secara serentak di jajaran Polda Sumsel,” paparnya.
Apalagi, lanjutnya, penanaman jagung tersebut digadang-gadang merupakan pertama kali dilakukan pihak kepolisian di Indonesia.
“Ini merupakan kerjasama antara Pemprov Sumsel dan Polda Sumsel. Saya juga bangga karena Polda Sumsel yang melaksanakan program ketahanan pangan. Ini juga merupakan tindak lanjut dari kerjasama Menteri Pertanian dan Kapolri,” terangnya.
Dia pun menjelaskan, penanaman jagung tersebut ditargetkan akan dilakukan di 200 hektar lahan kosong milik Polda Sumsel salahsatunya di sekitar lingkungan SPN Betung Kabupaten Banyuasin.
“Tujuan dari upaya ini untuk menekan impor jagung dan perlahan-lahan Sumsel akan meningkatkan ekspor komoditas jagung ini,” imbuhnya.
Kendati begitu, dia mengingatkan, upaya tersebut juga harus dibarengi dengan peningkatan kualitas komoditas jagung yang dihasilkan.
“Peningkatan kualitas harus dilakukan. Karena jagung ini merupakan pangan prioritas selain beras. Manfaatnya juga sangat banyak, termasuk juga untuk pakan ternak,” ujarnya.
Sementara itu, Kapolda Sumsel Irjen Pol Tony Harmanto mengatakan, langkah penanaman jangung di lahan milik Polda Sumsel tersebut sebagai bentuk dukungan kepada pemerintah dalam menjaga ketahanan pangan.
Dimana, dia berkomitmen, budidaya tersebut akan dilakukan di 200 hektar lahan milik Polda yang tersebar di 17 Polres yang ada di Sumsel.
“Selain di SPN, budidaya jagung ini juga dilakukan di lahan-lahan yang ada di Polres-Polres jajaran. Kepolisian siap mendukung pemerintah. Pertanian jagung ini akan dikelola Bhabinkamtibmas,” katanya.
Dia mengungkapkan, di SPN sendiri, pertanian memang telah lama dilakukan. Sedikitnya ada 130 hektar lahan di SPN Betung yang dimanfaatkan untuk pertanian.
“Kita memang telah lama memanfaatkan lahan kosong di SPN ini untuk pertanian. Termasuk perkebunan buah dan lainnya,” paparnya.
Dia berharap, penanaman jagung sebagai bentuk dukungan dalam menjaga ketahanan pangan tersebut dapat memantik pihak lainnya untuk turut melakukan aksi serupa.
“Kita harapkan ini dapat menjadi contoh pihak lainnya. Melalui hal ini juga kita mengedukasi masyarakat soal bagaimana membudidayakan tanaman jagung dengan benar,” tuturnya.
Diketahui, penanaman jagung di lahan SPN Betung milik Polda Sumsel itu ditandai dengan penandatanganan akte kesepahaman antara Gubernur Herman Deru dan Kapolda Sumsel Irjen Pol Tony Harmanto dan penandatanganan Nota Kerjasama Gubernur Herman Deru dengan Bank Sumsel Babel serta PT Pusri.
Selain penanaman jagung tersebut, Gubernur Herman Deru dan Kapolda Irjen Pol Tony Harmanto berkesempatan melepas benih ikan di waduk Bintara di kawasan SPN Betung.
Hadir dalam penanaman jagung tersebut, Wakapolda Sumsel Brigjen Pol Rudi Setiawan, Bupati Banyuasin Askolani Jasi, Kepala Dinas Pertanian Sumsel R Bambang Pramono, dan semua pihak terkait, termasuk perwakilan Bank Sumsel Babel dan PT Pusri.****
